Surf and Turf

· poetry

The sea whispers the infinitely interesting in my ear

I listen at risk

Flirting with disintegration

At the corner of Ocean Boulevard and Ocean Drive

And then I’m entering the hive

I was almost pacified

So close

Green leaf volatiles give warning that life is short

It mocks me

The golf course flaunts its leisurely lure

I have yet to find a cure

That’s not it

And yet I play the same course

Over and over and over again
