Being Me

· poetry

Severity bleeds into serenity

As creativity is released from my own enmity

My edges dull as life seeps back into my core

I am me, for awhile at least, once more

My alter ego is put to rest

As I resume being my best

The hardened coating is chipped away

So I may glimpse the dream that I betray

I seethe— for a moment—forgetting myself

Then calm

I churn— I boil— then…..breathe…

the air is my balm

My life—that I cherish—needs both

The sacrifice supports my oath

The necessity feeds tranquility

As I live to the best of my ability
