All that Glimmers and Shimmers

· poetry

Sometimes you are the winner of discontent

Incomplete with long pauses of ill ease

Slow heartbeats of melancholic systole

Then you open the hyperbolic toolbox to mend the rent

All for a glimmer of happiness

A slim shimmering of joyfully genuine moments

Carefully set up dominoes

A house of cards

A stack of blocks

Most likely to crash down in a disappointing pile

But—

when it doesn’t—

There is the magic

For a bit— a spark— the sparkle in the eyes

Live it quickly before it dies

Embrace it before you ruin everything…
